The League

The first tournament will run from September 10th — October 1st giving you four weeks of Mahjong. Tournament rules are pretty simple. Score points rather than coins or chips.  At the end of the four weeks we will have prizes for First and Second Place (Beginner and Advanced), based on who has the most points.

When: 6:30-9:30 pm; September 10th, September 17th, September 24th and October 1st

What is exactly included for $200?

  • Everything you need to play and have a good time while enjoying friendly competition is set up and ready to go! No lugging your tiles around, coordinating schedules for competition or worrying about set up.

What are the prizes?

Two winners per level, determined by top points accrued over the tournament.

During the last week of play, there will be an awards ceremony and announcements of the winners the last hour of the evening. 

What rules are we playing by here?

  • We will follow the National Mahjong League rules and will have a referee available throughout the night to help with any questions pertaining to rules or scoring, but not available to give advice or help with the game play.
  •  Play includes 8 Jokers, we don't mess with that blank tile game. 

What if I can't make it one week? Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we can't offer refunds. We hope to see each one of you every week so we can have a full house of mahjong. 

How do you collect points?

  • Points align with the values listed on the 2024 Mahjong Card.
  • Scores will be captured by a referee after every game with all four players signing off on the final score.

  • Each week should consist of 2-4 complete games.

What do I need to bring?

Don't forget your 2024 Mahjong Card (some available for purchase) otherwise you are all set! 

Who will be at my table?

  • When you register, you will indicate your skill level (Beginner or Advanced) and we will do our best to put you with similar level players.
  • BEGINNER: New to this whole thing but excited to be here and get better!

  • ADVANCED: I play often and I'm playing to win!
